Do you ever question whether your poop is normal? Are you worried you’re going to the ‘loo too much, or not enough? What does a healthy poop look like?
Well, unfortunately, I can’t say I have the ‘golden-ticket’ answer to your questions or worries…I can’t even provide you with the answer to the question in this title: “is your poop normal?”.
I wrote this article because I wanted you, as the reader, to take a minute and think about the health of your poop. It’s a bit of a weird ask, right? I wanted to grab your attention with this article title so that I could push (no pun intended) being your own advocate when it comes to your health and the health of your poop.
If you’re by any means questioning your digestive health, or the health of your poop, the doctor is your first place to seek answers. Maybe you’ve been wanting to go to the doctor but are embarrassed to talk about what’s going on in the bathroom? Don’t be. Don’t be embarrassed at all. Doctors aren’t phased by poop – they want to know what’s going on with your bowel movements…it’s part of your health after all! Poop is a huge indicator of what’s going on in your body.
For example, if your poop is super hard to pass and resembles little rocks (or rabbit poop) (aka Type 1 poop), you might be very dehydrated. Or, if you often have diarrhea, you might be dealing with stress or even an allergy (aka Type 7 poop). If you’re worried about the colour of your poop, undigested food in your poop or the amount you go to the bathroom…see a doctor. AND, if you ever see blood in your poop…go to the doctor asap.
Remember, you are your own advocate and if you’re unsure about your health, the doctor is the place to go.
Everyone poops!
According to the Bristol Stool Chart, Type 3 and Type 4 are categorized as ‘normal poops’, but if you’re still questioning whether they actually are normal…go see your doctor!
